North Africa Finance Controller
Job Purpose
As the North Africa Finance Controller, you will play a key role in safeguarding financial integrity, supporting operational performance, and driving value creation across the region. You will: · Oversee financial operations of the Morocco manufacturing plant (including OPEX, CAPEX, COGS, inventory). · Act as a finance business partner for the supply chain and commercial teams. · Contribute to the budgeting process for all North African affiliates. · Champion internal control, policy adherence, and audit readiness across the region. This role reports directly to the Head of Finance and requires close collaboration with local Finance Manager, FP&A Manager based in Inda, Supply Chain team, Global Controlling, and external partners
Key Accountabilities
- Plant Controlling (Morocco Plant) :
Operational & Financial Performance · Monitor monthly P&L and KPIs for the plant (i.e. local production, repacking volumes, OPEX, CAPEX, occupancy rate, etc.). · Ensure financial accuracy, cut-off compliance, and integrity of manufacturing cost reports. · Track actual vs. budget for plant OPEX and CAPEX
COGS & Transfer Pricing · Maintain and update product standard costs in SAP in line with global methodologies. · Populate COGS and inventory files based on DTM sales and inventory on hand. · Ensure alignment of transfer prices with corporate guidelines and tax regulations.
Inventory Management · Monitor inventory levels, slow-moving/obsolete stock, and aging; calculate DIO and top offenders. · Evaluate inventory at risk and ensure mitigation plan are implemented by Commercial & Supply Chain teams. · Collaborate with Supply Chain and Demand Planning to optimize stock health and replenishment logic. · Involve in the monthly IB&P process, lead Integrated Reconciliation Review, challenge sales assumptions, align on key drivers vs budget or forecast, build Risks & Opps based on assumptions not included in the latest forecast provided by the sales and marketing teams
- Regional Financial Oversight
Budget & Forecast Process (Commercial Affiliates: Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, French West Africa) · Involve in the annual budgeting process across all North African markets. · Collect and challenge key assumptions from local leadership and ensure timely submissions. · Ensure efficient cost allocation, consistency of product contribution analysis, and risk/opportunity consolidation. · Prepare budget decks with the Head of Finance and GM, including bridges and commentary.
Accounting Oversight – Algeria Legal Entity · Ensure IFRS and local GAAP compliance for the dormant Algerian legal entity. · Coordinate with the external accounting firm for statutory filings, tax returns, and financial statements. · Prepare annual appendices and support year-end closing activities.
- Internal Control & Compliance
Control Framework & Audit Readiness · Strengthen the internal control environment: identify gaps, formalize local procedures, and monitor compliance. · Coordinate and support Internal Audit reviews and follow-up action plans. · Serve as Delegation of Authority (DOA) coordinator and manage segregation of duties mitigation plans
- Financial Management: Support the Head of Finance in management presentations and internal reviews. · Contribute to onboarding and training of new finance or cross-functional team members. · Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at process improvement and simplification.
Major Challenges
- Managing complexity across multiple countries with different regulations (Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, French West Africa).
- Ensuring cost efficiency and control at the Morocco manufacturing site.
- Aligning cross-functional teams (Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial) on forecasts and inventory planning.
- Maintaining audit readiness and compliance across diverse entities.
- Balancing strategic oversight and operational detail in a fast-evolving region.
Skills & Knowledge
- Master’s Degree in in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- At least 5 years in finance roles, preferably in a multinational or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in plant controlling, audit, internal control, or FP&A.
- Fluent in French and English (spoken and written).
- Advanced Excel and SAP (FI/CO/MM) user.
- Strong understanding of product costing, transfer pricing, and inventory accounting.
