Job Purpose
The scope of services includes overall responsibility of services for pulmonary function tests at the centre. The technician will coordinate duties and report to the Chief Technician.
Key Accountabilities (1/6)
Patient Management
- Explain test procedures to patients and ensure their understanding and comfort.
- Conduct pulmonary function tests (PFTs) such as spirometry, oscillometry, DLCO, Sleep test etc.
- Monitor patient vital signs and document clinical observations accurately.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Key Accountabilities (2/6)
Technical Skills
- Operate and maintain specialized respiratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Interpret PFT results and prepare reports for physician.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and follow appropriate protocols for repair or replacement.
- Stay up to date on advancements in respiratory technology and diagnostic procedures.

Communication and Collaboration
- Effectively communicate with patients, explaining procedures and answering questions clearly and compassionately.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and therapists, to ensure continuity of care for patients.
- Document patient assessments and test results accurately and timely in the electronic medical record system.

Major Challenges
- Ensuring quality control calibrating equipment, conducting proficiency tests, and ensuring proper data management.
- Adhere to regulatory requirements and standards set forth by relevant governing bodies.
- Maintain open communication with patients throughout the process, addressing any questions or anxieties they may have.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and sanitation standards to prevent the spread of infections.

Education Qualification
Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT)
Relevant Work Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in performing pulmonary function tests.
