Job Purpose

Preface:  Cipla Manufacturing Assets are Aging with an average age of 20 Plus years and 75% of asset base >15 years of service and is degrading.

Asset Management Processes work together to bring the balance of performance, risk, and cost to achieve an optimal solution. Asset Management is delivered by developing & implementing 12 processes viz. Maintenance Execution, Turnaround Management, Process safety, Ensure Safe Production, Pressure Equipment Integrity, Competency Framework, Electrical Equipment Integrity, Instrumented Protective Function, Site Management System, Contracting & Procurement, Reliability Centred Maintenance, Strategy & Asset Information Management. Asset management excellence is many things, done well. Asset Management excellence is achieved when a plant performs up to its design standards and equipment operates smoothly when needed. It™s maintenance costs tracking on budget, with reasonable capital investment. It™s high service levels and fast inventory turnover. The key is - how to balance the designing, maintenance, and replacement of assets throughout their life cycle with the costs to business “ in terms of finance, time, and resources.

Ensuring Timely execution of green field/ brown field projects to facilitate smooth and safe site operations without impacting Cost and Quality norms.

Ensure Governance of Project Management Stream with respect to Project Completion / Budget Adherence

Key Accountabilities (1/6)

Project Management

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting standards are maintained throughout the project(s).
  • Coordinate and communicate projects group as needed on major projects in the Region.
  • Coordinate with global and site management on status, significant trends and changes of approved projects.
  • Establish the working relationship with operations management needed to facilitate the coordination and execution of project work, such that the operational impact is minimized.
  • Ensure safety and QA/QC programs are established by all parties and maintained and conduct reviews of detailed design drawing and specifications.
  • Monitor engineering progress against budget and forecasted schedule. ¢ Participate in and lead risk assessments and actively manage the risks of the projects and the business.
  • Prepare project estimates, budget, schedules and execution plans.
  • Preparing the engineering budget, project schedules and project control budgets for mechanical projects.
  • Prepare and submit reports on the progress and status of the project
  • Maintain effective and on-going communications with construction and contractor management teams
  • Assist with project QA/QC and commissioning systems and documentation.
  • Perform other project engineering and project management related duties.

Key Accountabilities (2/6)

Project Controls

  • Manage Project Cost and Schedule throughout the project life cycle
  • Fully understand the scope of the project, contractual requirements, identify the major milestones and set clear priorities for the project team
  • Lead the cost and schedule estimates for various Gate reviews and participate in the preparation of Gate packages
  • Serve as a link to the Project Services Common Skill Center organization; gain alignment for support and approval of key deliverables (i.e. Estimates Development Plans, Estimates, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain the Project Controls related plans and procedures
  • Participate in kick-offs and ongoing meetings with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor(s) to ensure common understanding of project controls requirements
  • Participate in gathering and recording lessons learned for the project
  • Serve as the budget custodian, lead financial close-out of the project and participate in other project close-out activities

Project Controls

  • Coordinate the collecting, analysing, and reporting of project cost and schedule control information to ensure overall project status is assessed, potential problem areas are identified
  • Analyse trends, prepare forecasts, opportunities and vulnerabilities.
  • Administer the project change control process and communicate implication of changes. Steward the overall Change Management process
  • Ensure that proper and effective project control measures are executed by the Contractor
  • Review and endorse the plans and procedures developed by the contractor. Ensure implementation of the same.
  • Review and endorse progress and cost/schedule baselines and forecast prepared by contractors
  • Analyse cost/schedule and progress reports and trends developed by contractor
  • Review cost bases of contractor's Change Proposals / Orders
  • Assist in developing/reviewing cost corrective actions and recovery plans, and making sure needed actions/plans are implemented
  • Develop cost and schedule estimates to support opportunity assessments, Project funding, Project reviews, and ad hoc requests. 
  • Use earned value analysis to showcase time and cost control.

Automation & Obsolescence

  • Identification, implementation and review project management related software along with IT requirement. 
  • Custodian of various systems like PMIS (Project Management Information System).
  • Establish new inventory/cataloguing where necessary. Update information in the inventory to ensure it is relevant for the current operation.
  • Develop guidelines for Obsolescence management and ensure implementation of obsolescence management across all sites.

Audits & Compliance

  • Provide necessary support and guidance to sites in conducting audits and in liquidating actions from audits.
  • Develop data base related to project management, safety and statutory requirement and audit compliances

Capability development

  • Develop and participate actively as coach in various Engineering academies.
  • Develop and manage knowledge management portal on project management discipline activities.
  • Coordinate various sessions from industry experts, OEMs, consultants on various topics and advancement related to the project management discipline
  • Encourage and assist in the development of all project engineers within Professional Services.
  • Develop and implement high standard training module for project engineers.
  • Supervise and groom the team to develop technical knowledge, skills and competencies in order to produce potential talent for future business needs

Education Qualification

  • Graduate in Mechanical / Civil / Engineering from reputed University.
  • PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) preferably

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least 8 - 15 year of experience in Engineering roles preferably in Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in performing Central Engineering roles preferably in Pharma Industry,
  • Ability to implement new techniques, deep understanding of project management process, planning and organizational skills, prioritization multi-tasking, understanding of financial concepts like CAPEX, OPEX etc.
